People & Place Tours

Nelson

People and Place Tours offers a historical perspective on the beautiful landscape of the Nelson / Tasman region. See beyond 'pretty scenery' to the (on-going) human drama of the place.

Description

People and Place Tours – the people, the land and their shared stories. Every place on earth has been transformed by its human stories. On People and Place Tours you will hear stories from a remote region of the planet - one which joined the human drama only very recently. Learn how the ideas, events and general madness of the wider world have influenced this small, secluded place in the southern Pacific Ocean and, in turn, how the people of Nelson / Tasman have had their impact on the wider world (you will probably be surprised by how much). People and Place narratives are based on the idea that the land has formed the people and, in turn, the people have formed the land. This simple idea underpins the tour itinerary, with the route chosen so that visitors can enjoy the sights of the Nelson / Tasman region while hearing stories of people who have called this part of the world home: physicists and philanthropists, seers and rogues, capitalists and workers, soldiers and farmers, European and Maori. You’ll travel in a comfortable van in a small group (max. 4 people). The trip lasts about 4 hours which includes a half hour stop for a coffee and / or a wander around the craft shops of the seaside village of Mapua. Tours depart from central Nelson, New Zealand. Duration: 1:00 p.m. to ~5:00 p.m. Tour group size is limited to 4 people. Cost: $75.oo / single person or $60.oo / person for groups of 2, 3 or 4.

Cancellation Policy. Cancellations earlier than 24 hours before the booked departure time will be refunded 80% of purchase price. Refunds will not be given for any cancellations later than 24 hours before the booked departure time. People and Place Tours takes no responsibility for personal items carried on the tour.
